What is boba?
Boba, or bubble tea, began in Taiwan in the 1980s: tea shaken with milk and sugar, poured over pearls of tapioca (made from cassava starch) that are soft and chewy. The pearls are the "boba". You drink it through an extra-wide straw so the pearls come up with each sip.
Milk tea, fruit tea, slush or smoothie: what's the difference?
Milk tea is creamy: brewed tea with milk, served with boba. Ours are Classic Milk Tea, Taro Milk Tea, Thai Milk Tea, Matcha Milk Tea, Horchata Milk Tea, White Peach Green Milk Tea, Tiger Stripes and Dirty Mad Tea.
Fruit tea is light and refreshing, with no milk: Lychee Lust, Passionate Love, Mangoficient and Pink Lips.
A slush is blended with ice, like a frozen drink: Mangonada, Strawberry Burst and Sunny Mango. Smoothies are creamier and blended: Purple Patch, Taro Smoothie and Matcha Smoothie.
What is taro milk tea?
Taro is a starchy root, and as a milk tea it's creamy, sweet and a little nutty, with a soft purple colour. Our Taro Milk Tea is served with chewy boba. For something thicker, the Purple Patch smoothie blends taro with custard and boba, and there's a Taro Smoothie too.
What are popping pearls and jelly?
Popping pearls are little spheres with a thin skin and fruit juice inside that burst when you bite them. Ours are strawberry and passion fruit. Rainbow jelly is soft, chewy cubes of fruit jelly. Tiger Stripes adds coffee jelly to Thai tea.
What should I order first?
Thai Milk Tea is the crowd favourite: Thai tea leaves slow-brewed for a rich, malty flavour with hints of spice and vanilla. If you like something sweet and nutty, try Taro; for cinnamon, Horchata Milk Tea. No milk? Pink Lips, our strawberry fruit tea with popping pearls and rainbow jelly.
